Leave One Light On respects the dignity and privacy of visitors. This policy explains how information may be handled when you visit this site or contact us.

You may send a message, topic, optional name or nickname, and—only if you choose an email, text, or phone reply—contact information. A private website reply does not require an email address or phone number. Please do not send Social Security numbers, financial account information, passwords, medical records, private foster-care case details, or identifying information about children.
How information is used
We use submitted information to respond to requests, review corrections, consider partnership ideas, operate the messaging system, maintain security, and prevent abuse. Sending a message does not subscribe you to newsletters or ongoing updates.
Private messages and response codes
A private website reply uses a code to retrieve responses. Keep your code secure. The system is designed to protect optional contact information and response codes, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Messages are not a crisis service.
Technical information and service providers
Hosting and website systems may process request details and security logs as needed to deliver and protect this site. Third-party hosting, payment, book-shopping and linked services may process information under their own policies. If we introduce additional analytics or tracking tools, we will update this policy to describe them.
Sharing
We do not publish private correspondence without appropriate permission. Information may be handled by providers operating website services or disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect people and website security.
Retention
Information is retained as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, maintain security and comply with legal obligations. Specific deletion intervals for private messages are under operational review and will be stated here when confirmed.

External sites and children
External websites have their own privacy practices. Do not submit sensitive information about children or private foster-care case records via general contact forms.
