The Light Board

Moderation and Privacy

How an anonymous act becomes an approved public light.

What we accept

One completed act of practical compassion, written briefly and without identifying another person.

What we reject

  • Politics, arguments, campaigning, attacks, accusations, or advocacy disputes
  • Promises, fundraising solicitations, advertisements, links, or self-promotion
  • Names, contact details, precise locations, case details, or identifying information
  • Claims involving minors, placements, diagnoses, investigations, crimes, or emergencies
  • Hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, graphic content, or illegal activity
  • Duplicate, automated, fabricated, or unverifiable submissions

Moderation

Every submission begins as pending. A moderator may approve, reject, mark as spam or duplicate, request internal review, or edit only for privacy, length, spelling, and clarity without changing the meaning. No submission publishes automatically.

Privacy

No account, name, or email address is required. Broad location is optional. The public API returns only approved act text, category, optional broad location, and publication date. Technical security logs must be minimized, access-controlled, and deleted on the approved retention schedule.

No social mechanics

The Light Board has no comments, replies, likes, dislikes, rankings, followers, direct messages, public profiles, or competition.

Corrections and removal

Administrators can unpublish an approved light immediately and retain an audit record. Because submissions are anonymous, public removal requests must provide the private receipt token generated at submission; the token itself is never public.

No act of compassion is ever too small.
